Military Exemption
Military exemptions legally excuse individuals from compulsory service or specific duties due to reasons like deeply held religious beliefs (conscientious objectors), certain medical conditions, critical family situations (sole surviving son), or essential civilian roles (ministers, certain officials). In the U.S., these are managed by the Selective Service System, granting classifications like 4-E (CO) or 4-G (sole surviving son) and offering postponements for students, with medical disqualifications being common reasons to avoid service.
4-E: Conscientious Objector (opposed to combat and non-combat).
- 4-F: Not qualified for military service (usually medical/moral).
- 4-G: Sole Surviving Son.
- 5-A: Over draft age.
